Zschucke

Carl-Friedrich Zschucke (June 27, 1938 – October 5, 2023) was a German doctor, coin collector and numismatist.

He studied medicine and received his doctorate in 1964 at the Düsseldorf Medical Academy. He then worked as an internist in Cologne.

Zschucke was also a coin collector, specialized in Roman coinage struck in Germany. Since the existing references were particularly incomplete for the Roman mints of Cologne of Trier, Zschucke tried to fill the gaps with his writings. Zschucke's works provide the collector and historian with the most complete reference works to date for the Roman mints of Cologne and Trier and enable researchers to gain new insights into the sequence of emissions, circulation and activities of both mints.

After the death of the collector Dieter Alten, who also specialized in Roman Trier, Zschucke completed his work on the Roman coin series Beata Tranquillitas and donated the collection of 875 coins published in the book to the Berlin Coin Cabinet. In 2010 he also donated his special collection of Trier bronze coinage to the cabinet.
