Strategos

Strategos (Greek: stratehous; literally meaning "army leader"), plural strategoi, is used in Greek to mean "general." In the Hellenistic, Roman, and Byzantine Empires the term was also used to describe a military governor. In the modern Hellenic Army, it is the highest officer rank. In coin legends it is usually abbreviated CTP. On a coin of Nero from Sardes (RPC I 2997), strategos for the second time is abbreviated ΣΤΡΑ ΤΟ B and ligated as follows: B.
