GERMANIA. - This legend, and it 's type, a woman standing, with spear and German shield, on a denarius of Hadrian, are considered allusive to the circumstance of that emperor 's passing over from Gaul into Germania, as Spartian relates in the year 877 (A.D. 120); and on which occasion, according to the same authoriy, he imposed a king on the Germans.
