ContemporaryThe term contemporary means "at the same time" but is also used as a synonym for "modern."  When the term is used regarding ancient coins or antiquities it always means, at the same time (ancient).  The dual meaning is, however, confusing and the term contemporary should be avoided.  A date, a specific perioid, the term ancient, the words "at the same time," or some other word or phrase should be used instead of contemporary.
