Tripondius-a multiple of the as.  It is one of the earliest and rarest pieces of Roman copper money - equal in weight and value to three ases.  It exhibits on one side the head of Minerva with the numeral III. behind;  on the other side a ship's prow with III.  below it. - Augini assigns to it the weight of 12 unc.- Zalada estimates it at unc. 10, drachm. 5 1/2 .- See As.
