Parazonium

Parazonium - A weapon similar to a dagger but longer (about 35 to 50 cm in length), and semi-triagular in shape; always carried in a sheath which is usually attached mid-body.

The parazonium, as a symbol of viirtue or valour (Virtus), appears in the right hand of that Roman diefication, on coins of the Licinia family, and the Volteia family. It appears in the left hand on a large bronze of Trajan, ARMENIA BEDACTA; also on coins of Vespasian, Titus, Domitian, Marcus Aurelius, Lucius Verus, Commodus, Caracall, Severus Alexander, and other Augusti.
