Palestine

Our use of the geographic name Palestine has nothing to do with the current Israeli or Palestinian claims or conflict.  It is derived from the Roman name for the area which includes Lebanon south of Tyre, Israel, the Gaza Strip and the western half of Jordan.  The northern part of the coastal area overlaps with Phoenicia.  East of the river Jordan may be referred to as Transjordan.  Whenever possible we will use more specific names such as Judaea, Gaza, or Galilee, for example.
