Vespasiano e l'aquila

Gentile sig.Giulio, pongo alla sua attenzione questa moneta dell'impero romano, acquistata di recente da un noto rivenditore romano. Mi farebbe piacere conoscere un suo giudizio in merito, magari anche un pò di storia, ed una valutazione.

Concludo osservando che le caratteristiche fisiche della moneta di figura appaiono compatibili con il denario d'epoca. La moneta appare autentica ed in ottimo stato di conservazione.

(1) Di seguito fornisco le caratteristiche fisiche di 4 denari della stessa tipologia censiti da BMC:

Il peso del denario durante il regno di Vespasiano è indicato da BMC/II come 3,23g. (media su 191 esemplari della zecca di Roma).
(2) IMPerator CAESAR VESPASIANVS AVGvstvs. A partire dal 75 la leggenda del dritto dei denari e degli aurei di Vespasiano si legge esternamente.
(3) Il rovescio di questa moneta si presenta leggermente eccentrico rispetto al centro del tondello, con la conseguenza che l'ultima I di VII è andata perduta perché fuori bordo. La I perduta è stata perciò indicata in rosso. L'alternativa sarebbe che effettivamente la leggenda del rovescio legga proprio COS VI, con il che la moneta si classificherebbe RIC/II 89 ovvero C/I 113.  BMC/II tuttavia mette in dubbio l'esistenza di una moneta siffatta, perché, asserisce, "la leggenda normale è COS VII".
(4) Nella descrizione del Cohen (C/I 121), il cippo è in realtà un altare. L'aquila sul rovescio è un simbolo funebre forse in memoria di Muciano, l'uomo che aveva contribuito all'elevazione di Vespasiano.
